Kristine

I have known Kristine since she was in elementary school, so I felt a grey hair sprout (unfortunately it’s not my first) when her mom contacted me to set up a time for her senior photo session. The feeling was certainly hit home by the fact that I now graduated from that same high school over six years ago. Yikes! Where does the time go?

On a warm summer day, Kristine was a trooper and didn’t complain once about getting up early for a sunrise session! I love when my clients agree to start their session just as the sun is peeking over the horizon, but I still always feel a bit guilty for pulling them out of bed so early! All of the beautiful locations you see below are found on Kristine’s family farm and they’re all within a short walking distance of one another. Bonus: we had a session intermission for a brief outfit change where I was able to enjoy some coffee and waffles prepared by Kristine’s mom!

Kristine is an active member in the local 4H, so to wrap up our morning we had a little photo shoot with her pigs. In my mind’s eye, I had a lot of expectations for these pigs! I had envisioned them standing by Kristine and looking up at the camera, similarly to the way a well-trained dog might. In reality, that’s not quite what happened, but I certainly racked up a good number of steps on my smartwatch! I spent the second half of the morning following curly-tailed pigs throughout the yard rather fruitlessly. However, this all changed when the spray bottle was brought out. Apparently pigs love the feeling of cool water and will stand (nearly) still as they enjoy the refreshing mist collecting on their skin!

I don’t think that the pigs are going to be invited, but I am so looking forward to my next session with Kristine in the upcoming weeks!

Zane + Karli

June 28th, 2019 was a day to remember forever. Just looking back through these photos has me reliving all the joy and excitement I felt on the big day. Zane and Karli truly had the perfect day from start to finish. They both spent the morning getting ready in their childhood homes surrounded by their parents, siblings and closet friends as laughs, smiles, and happy tears were shared. Excited anticipation hung in the air as everyone began arriving at the church, and I mean everyone; the pews were packed! From the moment the doors at the back of the church swung open and they made eye contact, Zane and Karli could not stop smiling at each other. These smiles didn’t leave their faces for the rest of the day. After the ceremony, we headed to their grandparents property for bridal portraits which is the same place I’d taken their engagement photos just four months earlier. Before heading to the reception, we couldn't pass up an opportunity to stop in and see their Grandma, who is 103, and was so excited to see her great grandchildren on their wedding day.

Capturing Zane and Karli’s wedding was such a privilege for me. I was able to witness and capture all of the special moments and emotions that most guests don’t get to see: the happy tears as dad sees his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time, the pure joy on mom’s face as she watches her son exchange vows with the woman he will spend the rest of his life with, and of course, standing in the back of the church in view of their support system comprised of family, friends, and loved ones all watching as two lives became one! Any photographer would have loved to capture Zane and Karli’s wedding and their sweet, genuine and fun personalities, but the cherry on top for me was having known and grown up with these two in the same hometown and witness not only the union of their marriage on this day but the start of their love story all those years ago! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Smeznik! Your day will always be engraved in my mind and heart and those of so many others!

Zach + Miranda

Hi all! Again, if you're reading this, then I sincerely thank you for taking the time to do so! Well here goes my second attempt at this blogging thing... Since I am new to this my entries will probably be pretty short and sweet, which is a good thing for you.

Today I would like to share with you a little peak into Zach and Miranda's big day! They had an absolutely beautiful July afternoon, without a single cloud in sight. I took bridal party pictures at Lake Saint Clair Metropark, near Zach and Miranda's reception at the Imperial House. It was a great location and the perfect place to capture some memorable images of Zach and Miranda! It was easy to see how effortlessly comfortable they felt in each other's presence, and I truly cherish being able to capture the love between two people. I was elated they allowed me the opportunity to be a part of their special day!

Please check out some of the images from the afternoon below!
